EPBC Sunday
Flex League
Flex Teams new
for 2012
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe
the summer is coming to an end and back to school time
is here. We hope you enjoyed the 2011 EP Boys Club
season. We appreciate all of the parent support and
realize we could not have a league without your
involvement.
We are excited to
announce a new opportunity to our Boys Club players for
the 2012 season as an alternative to full time travel
baseball. EPBC will be offering teams to compete in the
Chicago Sunday Baseball league. Based on interest we
will be fielding teams at the 8,9,10,11,12 year old
level. The teams will be selected through open tryouts.
Each team will play approx. 8-10 games on Sunday
mornings. The Season runs from approx. 4/15 through
6/30. Here are a couple of things to consider:
-
Games will be against other part-time
travel teams from the Chicago land area. The
schedule will include approx. 4/5 home games and 4/5
away games.
-
Manager will be selected by the board
and the Sunday league coordinator
-
This is an open
tryout and the
team will be selected based on the player’s ability.
Based on interest and coaching availability we can
offer multiple teams at different age groups.
-
Tryout and practice schedules will be
determined by each individual coach. There will be
no practice during the Boys Club season only games
on Sunday. We anticipate limited indoor practice
starting in January and continuing until the start
of the season.
-
Cost should be approx. $150 for the
Sunday team. This may vary depending on the number
of indoor practices held in the winter.
- This is
not the All-Star team. The All-Star team will
be selected at the conclusion of the Boys Club
season as it has in the past. Participating in the
Sunday league
does not
guarantee a spot on the All-Star team. Keep in mind
the goal of the Sunday Flex League is to allow the opportunity
to play more baseball. The children that play on the
Sunday teams will be exposed to winter practice time
and a higher level of competition on Sundays. As a
result these players will most likely be better
prepared for the All-Star Season.
The goal is to provide another level of
competition for those players who might typically look to play at the full-time
travel level. We see this as a way to keep our in-house league stronger by keeping
our players in the neighborhood. Also it provides our parents with a cost
efficient alternative to full time travel baseball which can cost approx.
$500-$2000.
If you have any additional
questions, please send a quick e-mail to
sunday@epboysclub.com. Tryout information will be sent to each individual age group
based on the schedule determined by the appointed manager.
Thank you
